STATE DIAMOND TRADER PARTNERS WITH SUNRISE GEMS AT THE 2024 AFRICA

MINING INDABA

The State Diamond Trader (SDT) has partnered with Ms Nomalungelo Stofile, the founder of Sunrise Gem at the 2024 Africa Mining Indaba. This is one of the initiatives that the entity has embarked on in ensuring that South African Beneficiators are afforded an opportunity to showcase their polished diamonds and unique precious jewelleries infused with modern artistry. The Africa Mining Indaba will be held at the ICC Cape Town on the 5th – 8th February 2024.

As a first-generation diamantaire, Nomalungelo Stofile is evidence of her commitment in the diamond industry. She is a remarkable woman with technical expertise who is also an entrepreneur. The State Diamond Trader has played a crucial in ensuring that she was developed and ready for the traditionally male-dominated industry.

As president of the South African Young Diamond Beneficiators Guild, she is devoted to the expansion of the South African diamond sector and will continue to advocate for resources to support local beneficiation. Stofile is transforming her business into a one-of-a-kind African luxury brand by combining her understanding of art, diamonds, and jewellery with her history in the wine industry. Participating in innovative efforts like the State Diamond Trader and De Beers Group Beneficiation Projects has enriched her experience in the sector.
She will be selling her Jewellery pieces at the SA pavilion, stand no J40 for the duration of the Indaba. The entity continues to advocate for “Provence”-Mined in South Africa and Manufactured by South Africans.

The State Diamond Trader is a state-owned entity established in terms of Section 14 of the Diamonds Amendment Act, 29 of 2005. The company is classified as a Schedule 3b entity of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), and is eligible by law and proclamation to purchase up to 10% of the run of mine from all diamond producers in South Africa.
